Objective

In “Terra,” players act as corporations tasked with transforming the planet Mars into a habitable environment. The main goal is to increase the planet’s temperature, oxygen level, and ocean coverage to complete the terraforming process while earning the most Terraforming Rating (TR) points to win the game.

Gameplay Phases

  1. Player Order Phase:

    • Determine the order of play based on the previous game outcomes or randomly.
  2. Research Phase:

    • Players draw project cards and may purchase them to add to their hands.
  3. Action Phase:

    • Players take turns performing actions, which can include:
      • Playing project cards.
      • Using standard actions (e.g., converting resources).
      • Placing tiles (cities, greenery) on the board.
  4. Production Phase:

    • Players produce resources based on their production levels and gain income from their TR.

Components

  • Corporation Cards: Each player starts with a corporation card that provides unique abilities and starting resources.
  • Project Cards: Various projects that contribute to terraforming or provide other benefits.
  • Resource Management: Players manage resources like MegaCredits, steel, titanium, plants, energy, and heat.

End of Game

The game ends when Mars has been fully terraformed, which is achieved when:

  • Oxygen levels reach 14%.
  • Ocean coverage is sufficient.
  • Temperature is raised to +8°C.

At this point, players tally their victory points based on their TR, achievements, and additional points from cards or tiles.
